Witness

As described by the United Methodist Church Book of Discipline: the Witness Ministries of the church are concerned with developing and strengthening evangelistic efforts of sharing of personal and congregational stories of Christian experience, faith, and service; communications; Lay Speaking Ministries; and other means that give expressions of witness for Jesus Christ.

At Belden we understand that the Great Commission is to "Go, and Make Disciples" and the only way to do that is to share our faith experience with others.

Vacation Bible School

One of the many highlights of our year is VBS! For one week each summer, our facility is practically brimming with energetic children and adults, full of fun and games while remaining focused on key themes and tenets of the Christian Faith.

During the week we collect items for missional needs in the local area or beyond. The kids learn each day's lessons with the help of our many volunteers through crafts, games, acting out bible stories, having a snack or learning by doing with science experiments. We start and end each evening in the sanctuary, which is always decorated to the hilt, learning fun songs and dances that not only get you moving, but also touch your heart, where God resides in each of us!

On Saturday a dinner is held, allowing families and kids to spend time in fellowship, enjoying one last evening together as the VBS week draws to a close. And as always, the Sunday following VBS is a great event, as the children take some time to share what they learned all week during the worship service.

This year's VBS is gonna be out of this world!! Our theme this year is space - Galactic Blast! August 2nd - 6th - from 6:30-9:00... come join us for lots of fun and learning, music and games! Connections

Connections is our Wednesday evening program for children in grades K-6. Our youth group (7th-12th grade) meets during this time as well. The program runs from early September to mid-December, and then starts again mid-January through early May. The goal of Connections is to learn about Jesus and make connections between what we are learning, while developing in faith and everyday life. All area students are welcome to enjoy this evening of fellowship and learning free of charge. Registration is always open to anyone desiring to attend.

What can you expect?

We begin our evening at 5:30 pm in the sanctuary for a time of welcome and greeting, music, singing, skits, prayer and celebration. The goal is to develop and practice basic worship skills. That is why God created us - to worship and adore him.

At 6:00 we head to the fellowship hall for a light supper and table fellowship with our adult table parents. This is the one time when all Connections participants are together. It gives an opportunity for everyone to experience being part of the family of God. During dinner everyone is given a chance to share, to serve others, and to use table manners. The table parents are two or more adults in the life of our youth and children who will care about their lives and journey of faith.

From 6:30-7:30 we break out into 3 separate twenty-minute sessions divided by age groups for bible study, crafts and games. The curriculum we use is relevant to their particular age group and is scripturally based. It is the heart of the program and is designed to be creative and interactive. The goal of bible study is to nurture our youth in the matters of faith and practice and help them to become familiar with the bible. Beyond the bible study portion, the crafts and games provide great fun at the expense of no-one else. Crazy games that get everyone moving and laughing allow athletes and non-athletes alike a chance for fun. The crafts are based on scripture and seasonal themes.

At Connections, we want to walk with our children as they grow and develop into disciples of Jesus Christ while having fun. Throughout the year we have some special times where we celebrate birthdays, talents, etc. as well.
